First day

First day

About us

It is now my husband and I after many years of taking care of our family. Beginning with a wonderful son until he left home to become a Marine and as recently as taking care of my mother until her passing and all the life and love in between. We've been happily married since 1982 and I can hardly wait to see what the next 26 years brings. It's been a great ride!

Sunny Saturday

Yesterday I got to spend half a day with my nephew. I really enjoyed his company. We had fun on the way back from Spfd as we went cross country and played with the gps his boss loaned him. Saw some country that neither of us had seen in a long time. Stopped at my favorite restaurant to eat on the way home. His treat. Now I need to take him to the bayou restaurant and treat him. He has a generous heart like his momma. I hope he can stay on his path. He has tried before and gotten sidetracked. He'll be free of that later this month.
Didn't get to visit with S at all but hope she is doing better after our quick 2 minutes we did have.

Wednesday

T is working overtime today. I'm glad they still have OT on occasion 'cause we need it. Doesn't everyone? We've had a temporary cut in income and this helps alot. We've done it before and we'll get thru it again.
I made homemade pizza for dinner last night and it turned out great if I do say so myself. Tim said it was the best homemade pizza he'd ever had. I think I may have some for breakfast haha. (Edited to add: it microwaved just fine!)
I didn't get my walk in yesterday (insert sad face here) I was too tired early so decided to go back to bed. So....at 6 am I went back to bed. Didn't wake up until 9:30! Yay for me! But .....then it was too late for me to walk haha....just never got around to it.
Whew! Got that one mile out of the way. Sweating profusely.....it's 6:21 and now for the rest of the day. Friday I have a road trip to Spfd with Mike. About an hour for his appointment and then we're done. Well, maybe grab some lunch at El Taco! Yay! Glad it's one of his favorites too. Sancho, enchillada style, here we come! Oh, and a taco-burger too!Nanner, nanner, big sis...
I got the cutest little crock pot in my Christmas stuff that Ann and Linda just brought us. It's a 2 qt. - so cute. Would be good for cheese dip, meatballs etc. Might just be perfect for me and Tim too. Less is better.
Just got a call from T. Looks like they had enough to work and he gets to come back home. Invited me to breakfast! Some days are diamonds!

Chilly Monday

Hank ready for nap in the rocking chair.

Sheba all toasty for her nap. Me too!

Allen sent this picture to me a few years ago. Someone didn't want a cell tower to spoil their view so it's made into a fake tree!
Hey Sis, maybe Frenchfry wouldn't be so tired if he wasn't up past 1 am posting on facebook! haha Saw that he was up late and couldn't resist -
Guess I'd better start on my day. T is off to work, got brkft out of the way etc....
Got that one mile out of the way. Yay! OMG! Been meaning to post about one of those little mundane things in life. My new SwivelllSweeper.(mispelled on purpose)I love it! Who would have thought? It works great for this floor for a quick sweep!
Had a visit with sis this am too. Yep, she's still too busy. Some things never change.
They've decided to leave the caretaking to the caretakers. I think that is sad. Enough said.
Good new for R! Yay! And for S!
Some days are diamonds AND stones!

Groundhog day

as usual ....no matter how we look at it we have 6 more weeks of winter. This winter has been pretty mild and I've enjoyed it alot. The mild part that is. Gonna be another nice day upwards 60* again.
I've been able to use the treadmill on average of every other day. Not losing any weight but enjoying more energy.
Need to call Susie and check on her latest test.
I'm also hoping that Mom Pat is doing alright. I've not heard whether she's gotten her glasses repaired or been to the dentist yet. Nothing much worse than a toothache. Maybe sis will give me a call and let me know how it's going. She's always busy so I don't call her.
Homemade noodles before cooking and adding the venison tips.

And for dessert...blackberry cobbler with our homegrown berries! Yummmmy!

Got my walk out of the way and played with my plants for a few minutes. Have more to do in the plant room this a.m. They have all done well thru the winter but needed to move one that has grown too big for it's space. I have 10 blooms on my lime tree that I sure hope bear fruit! That would be so neat. Plant misting ....check
        Dog nails trimmed.....check
        Laundry started.....check
        Dishes done......ugh  started anyway haha
        Flea treatments ......check
Did I mention I got up at 2a.m.? How silly is that?
Turned Jeanne out for her daily walk/graze. She's improving as Tim is able to work on her foot.
Misty Blue is improving too. For some unknown reason a few days ago, Sheba and Misty decided to go in for the kill. Tim had quite a time breaking them up. Wasn't there but it appears that Sheba was winning when he was finally able to separate them. Sheba had maybe 2 spots on her with puncture wounds whereas Misty Blue has several in several places. She's gonna be fine even for an old lady like her.
Well, think it's my nap time - some days are diamonds.

Sunny Saturday

...another beautiful day in the Ozarks! A bit on the cold side at 32* but I love the sun. We got 1.4"of rain on Wednesday. Yay! We sure needed it. Some weather folks have said the whole of the country has pretty much missed winter so far. Pretty strange if you ask me. Like waiting for the other shoe to drop while watching the flowers come up. Jeanne's been in the barn for the most part for a bit. After she eats we need to let her out to graze just so she can keep her belly adjusted to their diet. I keep forgetting that. I want to change her diet along with the shoeing etc to see if that's part of the founder. She needs to keep up the exercise etc. It's kind of a pain too. None of the gates work the way they are supposed to so you have to lift and carry.

Another great day ahead!

.....I'm just sure of it! Not gonna let it be anything else.

The girls seem to be enjoying the winter with the heat lamp. They've been giving 8-10 eggs a day for the most part. Some days it's only 6. That's okay because I can only use so many eggs and no one comes by to give them to. haha

Hannah has found a new way to keep her butt warm. I guess the concrete lid to the well soaks up the heat. haha  She's there quite often on these cold days.
Here is Hank and Hannah's parents. That's why they are both colors when you see them in the sunshine. Nice looking couple aren't they?

Such cuties!

Still are!
The days are almost 30 minutes longer now and I know it's still a long way off but I  sure am excited at the prospect of spring! Fruit, flowers and veggies! Gonna try again on a few tomatoes. Seems the only thing I can try besides flowers and shrubs. My lavendar has held up all winter long! Yahoo! I put it right next to the ramp so it was iffy that it would make it through. Between dogs and chickens it's fairly difficult to keep anything alive.

Now that I have a plant room in the house I'm thinking I won't be taking many outside this year. A few will have to go out.
It's kinda crowded in there. May have to re-think that whole idea. haha Or I could get rid of some plants. Naaaahhhh. Can't do that.
Aunt Jo called last week. I would love to go visit her. She said the next heart attack would be it. They have repaired all they can repair. I know it can happen anytime but .......she's my last remaining rock. I don't see her near often enough but I know she's there. I'm so glad that Kate and Annette are there for her.
  Some days are diamonds.

Beautiful day with the sun shining!

Cold and bitter but sunny! I have been trying to get motivated to write again but it has been hard. Too much sadness in the world and sometimes hard to ignore.
We've had a wonderful winter so far. Been very mild but dry. We need rain now. Of course.
Jeanne is limping around with a bad hoof. May be foundered from way back. Last year was the first year her feet were half way decent since we got her. Tim thinks he can get her back in shape in about 6 months. June, give or take. I'll work with her when I can and in the meantime I may give Jo a try. That'd be something. She's not had any one on her in several years but I bet she remembers. David just about ruined her for a bridle but we do have a hackamore. He was a big mistake but we can work through it with Pat and Linda.

Our insurance is still messed up. The pharmacy just called. Good Grief!
  Still haven't heard from Dez.
Athena had her baby on the 9th. Wilson Cornelius - healthy little fella and mom's good too.
Was planning a basket class for this month but now it looks like it will be in Feb or Mar.. it will be a basket similar to this one:
Just a small square or rectangular one with a handle. Cheryl would like to try one of these to see which she likes more. She has made an egg basket.
This is a notepad basket made by someone else as I don't have a picture of my regular baskets. Lots of egg baskets as they are my favorites.

Look at all that venison! Ralph gave us a haunch and there was probably 10#'s of meat on it. I had to de-bone it just to fit in my turkey roaster. Was just wonderful.

Here's some cashew chicken I made for Tim minus the cashews haha....thought I had some but alas .....was almonds......

I made toffee over the holidays and some peanut brittle too. Both were good. Not quite Aunt Kathryn's but close - on the brittle...
Some days are diamonds.
