First day

First day

About us

It is now my husband and I after many years of taking care of our family. Beginning with a wonderful son until he left home to become a Marine and as recently as taking care of my mother until her passing and all the life and love in between. We've been happily married since 1982 and I can hardly wait to see what the next 26 years brings. It's been a great ride!

Tuesday

T is working OT today and I'm playing catch up. You know the drill. Things will never actually get caught up and I know that but I look around and think OMGosh! Taking back the spare room will help this winter. Breaking down the bed and gonna use it for my houseplants. Don't need a spare bedroom as no one comes to stay.
Sorry we couldn't stop at Sandi's yesterday. Had too many things to do when we got home and had been a long day already. Was good to "bump" into her on the way home.
They are having their annual "End of Summer" BBQ this weekend. I'm sure it will be as fun as always.

T's family is having a multi-birthday party on Saturday for Bridgie (turning 50) Jax (turning the big ONE), Pam (30something?)T(56). It was almost cancelled 'cause Linda wasn't feeling up to having it at her house but Greg refused to let Bridgie's 50th go by without a party for her. What a sweet brother.
Wayback photo of the day. Aren't we just the cutest?
Got a few more lines of the family story written. How about you? You want to put them on here? I can add you as an author to this blog. Give you practice with editing haha...Yay!!!!It's raining! Won't last long but it will help.
Just chased a hawk away from the back yard. Dang old thing was scaring the chickens! They were hiding under a bush just hollerin' for me to come check on them. Sure enough, there sat that old hawk just a waitin' for someone to slip up.

Good morning!

It's gonna be another good day. I just know it. It's 67* right now and T just left for work. Dez didn't make it so guess she's driving herself - again. Someone told her a few days back that she'd been changed to the 7-7 shift. Luckily they told 2 others the same thing as that wasn't true. She's still on the 6-6. She was definitely disappointed but can't be helped.
Last night's race was rather boring but that's okay. We always talk through them anyway.
Oh, can't believe my sister didn't tell me that PW's cooking show was starting yesterday morning! I missed it. Got the dvr ready to record the series. Looks like it will be entertaining, as her things usually are.
One of those mean dobies you hear about. haha Poor baby Hank. Such a mistreated thing.
OH, got a text from big brother last night. Seems he is okay. Didn't say much but he's okay. Glad to hear from him. Even just a text.
Been doing a little genealogy and have found a few things that I've been trying to find for several years now. Makes me happy. Nothing on our side of the family but on T's. I keep plugging away at that "story", just a few lines here and there. Speaking of family, heard from one of Lee's cousins yesterday on fb. What a nice surprise that was. Have only seen her once since she was a baby and lived at our house. She has two kids of her own, 10 and 4. Good grief! Where does the time go. Jay, Mike and Lee are g-pas for chrimeny sakes!
It's August and the squirrels are busy stealing walnuts off the trees. Isn't it a little early for that?

Foraging Friday

A day of foraging...first, feeding everything before I leave and then going to get feed for everything after I left. haha Then get "feed" for the humans. What an all day ordeal. Monett then Wm and then the grocery store, bank blah blah blah......don't get me wrong. I'm so grateful and so thankful that I'm able to do those things. I'm just tired. Although, this is (knock on wood so as not to spoil it)the second day in a row that I've felt a little better than I have for months! Thank you, Lord.

Sunny Sunday, again

Yesterday was the birthday party for Aiden and Dahlia. Sorry you couldn't make it. Good ribs, chicken, wings and sides. And best of all....good company. The kids had a ball and were completely wore out at the end of the afternoon.

Dahlia's new bike

Another new bike
Today is actually our anniversary. Twenty nine years ago today we were at Doling Park with family and friends getting married by the fountains and having a cook out. What a day that was. The time has absolutely flown by too fast.

Wonderful Wednesday

I know it's early but I'm just sure it will be a great day.
Here's a little of yesterday:
New babies - day 3 and they're still alive. Momma is doing better than any of them did before. She's had them on the ground at night- no losses, out of the hen house and back in again-no losses. The hens before always deserted them if the didn't keep up. Keeping fingers crossed these guys will make it.
This is Number 2 . Another barn cat. This one goes hunting with Momma Cat out in the big world of the woods. Makes it back too. The kitten "3" didn't make it back one time. Actually I think it was the first time they went out to the woods. "3" didn't make it back. He's either still out there and chooses not to come back.... or he was someone's dinner. Number 2 goes out and back at least once, sometimes twice, a week.

Poor tomato plant. See how it has no leaves? That's what the dang hornworms have done to it. I hate those little beasties. People actually say not to kill them cause they make such nice moths and only eat leaves. Well, dang, that stresses the plants and they can't produce maters!

Can you see it? The little red spot points at it.

This one is in between the yellow lines. They sure are hard for old ladies to spot. I squish them and leave them for the chickens to find. If I throw them toward the chickens alive they are almost afraid of them. How funny.
I picked off 6 bigs one and 3-4 little bitty ones yesterday and 2 this morning. I've never tried it but they say the stripes glow at night under a flashlight so they are easier to pick off. I'm not that dedicated.

This is a picture I borrowed from the net that's much better.

Guess that's one of my problems. haha I'm just never dedicated or passionate about anything in my life. Jack of all trades and master of none so of thing. Always wanted to be good at it all!

Tame Tuesday

Gonna be a nice quiet one. T is working OT. Beautiful outside. Hung out with the horses for a little bit. Played with the kitty for a few. He's funny. He comes running but he doesn't know why. He plays at my feet. Finally purred while being held. Yay! Here's a new picture of Jax. Isn't he a cutey? Almost a year old and good natured little guy. Of course he thought the world of Uncle Tim. The little ones always do.

Here's a photo of some of us "kids" that went to elementary school together. We got together last year and met at school. I missed the gathering this year. Haven't heard how many made it. The lady on the far left in purple is fighting breast cancer right now. Put her on my prayer list that she wins the fight. Was a nice reunion.

Wish these little guys would come for another visit. CJ and RC. Their growing up so fast. Oh, and that's G-Pa Ralph.

Mellow Monday- I hope

I had a real good day yesterday considering I forgot to take my dang pills! Sat at Sandi's computer all day helping set up files for photos. Almost got done. haha She's like me. Has 1000's of photos. That's what amatuer photographers (if you can call us that) do....maybe just hobbiests? It's all about having a good time taking pictures. We both need to check into memory chips for our computers. That way we could add another/better photo program to play with. I need to figure out if a photo program would stay on an external hard drive ($100+-) along with the photos. Something like that might help. For Sandi, maybe just a small laptop for photos and writing. No online access. Just personal use. Oh, oh, maybe I need to check your old tower out. We might do something with that for the photos! Bet we can! For the writing too. Forgot you mentioned you still have it! Yay! May not be as handy as a laptop but will do the job.
These two would have been right there at the top with Jo and Gerald as favorites had I ever got to spend more time with them as I grew up.
Another from the wayback. Aren't we a trio?
It took so little to make me happy from the look on my face. Now, you, older siblings, don't look so thrilled. haha Semi- happy , maybe.....
It's going to be a beautiful day!
Since Dez isn't living here Tim asked her to move her things out of the bedroom so I can get it ready for fall houseplants. I'm sure she'll tell folks we threw her out. haha She hasn't stayed here in months so there's no reason not to take back my extra room. Gonna tear down the bed and put all houseplants in the same room. At least the big ones. haha No need for a spare bed. No one comes here. I'll use the little ottoman/bed and the rollway if needed.
Another beautiful sunrise as I suspected.

A bonus. The moon had not yet set.
My day begins.Gonna be a diamond.

Sunny Sunday

Gonna be another sunny Sunday and beautiful day all around. Mid 80's they predict. "They" being the weather folks on tv. They are actually pretty good at it.
I had a great day on Friday. Was sitting around waiting on some folks I'd never met to exchange some family tree stuff and my sister came by and was able to spend the day with me. I wasn't real comfortable being home alone with strangers coming. Yes......I'm a 'fraidy cat. Have been all my life. She was able to stay and visit, have lunch and a good time I hope. I really appreciate the time. I know she's busy with a teenager and disabled husband in the house.
One of my favorite pictures.

Here's one from the wayback file. What a group of women! Strong......or is it strongwilled? I'll never forget any of them. They made quite an impression on my life early on. Really never stopped.

I had a nice surprise yesterday. I went back to bed about 8 and around 10 got woke up by a tiny little voice outside my window. Was Lee and Aiden! They brought some fresh veggies from their garden. Were able to stay about an hour and a half. Nice, nice surprise and visit. I really appreciate his time too. They are so busy and he works 60 hours a week every week.
The out of town visitors never made it. She finally called about 7 or so and said it would be another 2 hours or so before they could be here. Too late for this old gal so now I'm emailing her the info.
Kinda bouncing around this a.m... need to get around and get some things done. You know......laundry, outside stuff, blah, blah,blah......

My goodness......

I can not find the time or the brain power........We had a week's vacation at the first of the month. It sure was nice. Everyone asks where we will go. We don't really need to GO anywhere. We love our home and we live in a great place to take day trips so why spend the money to stay in a motel and the gas to get somewhere else?
One of the things we did was go to Branson for afternoon/evening. Nice drive over. Haven't been there in over 20 years. We went to the Titantic museum first.
Here's the outside. You are not allowed to take pictures inside. Kinda cheesy if you ask me. What are folks gonna do? Make more money off the stuff than the family that owns the stuff? They have 2 museums..that irks me. I loved being able to see the real artifacts from the ship but one in Branson and one in/Dollywood Pidgeon Forge? That's all about the money. Frustrating.....

Here's the Branson Belle. We went on a dinner cruise. Paid extra to have private dining. Met an older couple celebrating their 58th wedding anniversary. We were celebrating our 29th. They were nice folks. From Ozark haha...the dinner was interesting. I had steak and fish with beet greens salad with walnuts. Wild rice was awful but I liked the mashed potatoes that Tim had with his steak. He didn't eat them. I can't even tell you what was in them. Tried to figure it out but wasn't able. haha
It was neat to "take a ride on a riverboat". One of my favorite songs by the way.

Here's the silkies that Mike so generously gave me. Aren't they just the cutest things? They are blue. Lay tiny little eggs and I hope they are wonderful setters. That's the plan anyway.

Here's "Momma Barn Cat" and one of her little ones. We call him the stripped one. Aren't we original? The white one is still camera shy. He is colored somewhat like a siamese but is getting lighter by the week. Haven't seen the other grey one since momma took them on their first hunt in the woods. Coyotes or just opted to live in woods? Will never know.
Back to vacation. We didn't get home til after midnight and not to bed til after 2 so the next day was hang out at home and veg out.
The following day we met Jeff and Pam in Holiday Island for a bike ride. It was the hottest day EVER in Arkansas! Great timing. We rode to the Mulberry grocery store at Cass. Been there over 100 years. Three buildings later they are still renting canoes etc. The ride down was great! Had a snack out of the microwave and a few bottles of water to replenish us.
The ride back on the other hand started to suck really bad after about an hour out. I had to make several extra stops just to kinda revive in air conditioning. The kids didn't mind at all. Neither did Tim. It was over 110*! Was like driving though a blast furnance. Having my face shield down was cooler! Can not imagine how Jeff and Pam did it with no helmet.
By the time we made it to Ann's I called it quits. Ask Tim to go home and come back for me in the van. Another 60 miles round trip. He didn't hesitate. I stayed and got to visit with the family and watch Jax play. He looks just like Jeff! Tim took care of the animals while he was home etc and we stayed for dinner and a visit when he returned. We got home after midnight again that night too. After the lousy hours I sleep and etc and suffering from exhaustion I'm proud of myself.
Oh, had a dr's appt in there somewhere too. My thyroid number was only half better so we upped my med and hoping that will make the difference. Keeping fingers crossed and saying prayers.
The next thing on the agenda was a drive-in movie with Sandi and Ralph. We've been wanting to go for several years but the timing was always off. We saw Transformers3 and Cowboys vs Aliens. Both just pretty dang good. Had no idea what to expect from Tr3 but it was better than ok. Cboy was funny, like expected. Hope to do it again before they close for the season.
Guess I better quit for the time being. Got out of town, never met before company coming this a.m. to do a little genealogy. Tim's third cousin on the Cherry side.
