First day

First day

About us

It is now my husband and I after many years of taking care of our family. Beginning with a wonderful son until he left home to become a Marine and as recently as taking care of my mother until her passing and all the life and love in between. We've been happily married since 1982 and I can hardly wait to see what the next 26 years brings. It's been a great ride!

Sunny Sunday

Here we are again. Another beautiful day in the Ozarks! Chance of rain during the afternoon but that's okay. Got some outside chores done already and time for more before any rain arrives.

Betty sprained her left hind in the past few days. Dog gone it. She's limping less today than yesterday. Molly is still sticking to the west side - she doesn't have to boss everyone these days. The rest are doing quite well just hanging and eating.

Here's Buck and Jeanne
Betty Boop

Got to spend all day with my big sis helping them with their computer. Getting to know it and backing up her photos for her. She can do it but we wanted to get it done a little faster just in case. Now she can take her time editing etc and then organize them better. I just finished backing up mine not too many weeks ago. I can hear my Oriole outside but can't see him thru the window.

Here's my brother's quilt. We finally got it finished! Yay! It's now ready for shipping- oops- no, it's not ready. Needs a label.

As usual I had more to say but got sidetracked with other projects. haha

Miserable Monday? Not a chance!

I refuse to let it be a miserable Monday. Weren't my words anyway. It's gonna be a great day. T and D are off to work. Getting ready for my mile walk. Just finished brft and taking pills. LOL Almost daylight.

Last summer when Betty first arrived. Aren't they cute? The two youngest girls. El and Betty.

Not sure what else to say today so will stop for now.

Vacation coming up

We've got our first vacation of the year coming up soon. The end of the month. Memorial Day and the next . So with time off before and time off after - gives us 7 days in a row. Maybe we can catch up on sleep? I doubt it. Maybe catch up a few chores around the place and throw in a bike ride or two.

The lack of enough sleep is getting to me. Gonna be a 2-3 nap day..Sandi interrupted the one this morning. Tim has made his morning break call so now would be the time. I don't see how T is running on 3-4 hrs sleep a night. We went to bed at midnight- got up at 3:30! Two - three nights a week doing that and I'm used up...no wonder my sleep cycles are screwed. Between that and the pain that wakes me and blah blah blah.....what a whiner! I'd like some cheese with that whine please!

Beautiful day

Another beautiful day in the Ozarks. Just talked to T. He's at a meeting at work. Will be home around noon or thereabouts. Just had some big gusts of wind. Outside the rain glob on the radar. Will be dropping some rain here in a little bit. I walked around the yard this morning to check on the flowers etc.  Fed the chickens and the barn cat (Callie). Whitey wasn't around. She's with her kittens. We know she started with 3 , don't know if they all made it. I'm sure torn on that one. Hate to see anything die but certainly don't want any more cats.

Here's just some of the beauty that I am blessed to look at each day: some of my iris

baby roses

pink peonie

poppy

prickly pear 2010

tulip tree 2006 or 7

I'll add more later but these give you an idea.

I took some pics this morning but haven't uploaded them to the computer yet so I put up some from previous years. The tulip tree has finished long ago and is just pretty and green now. The prickly pear has a few more weeks before it blooms but there are a lot of buds right now. After they flower and the buds ripen you are supposed to be able to eat them but have never tried it.

I've put a couple of tomatoes in the ground with several more still on the porch. The 2 in the ground are a Cherokee Purple (my all time favorite) and a Red Beefsteak. Some of the babies that I haven't put out yet are Black Brandywine, Sweet 100, Black Cherry cherry tomato and Heinz . Also some Mammoth Red Cabbage, pineapple sage, rosemary, New Mexico peppers, red and yellow onion, some mixed gourds, mosquito geranium and assorted houseplants that have been transplanted.

Just looking out the front window and see that my old trail friend Molly is actually in the pasture to the east! She doesn't bother to walk that far these days. She pretty much hangs out on the west side of the house now. Doesn't even mind if she's the only one over there. For 20 some years now she's been the herd boss (after Cotton)and has now given that job to her daughter Jo Two Sox.

That's Molly in 2009. Just a few months after having Elvira. She's 25 this year! I can hardly believe that!
What an education she has helped me with all these years. Our first baby when Jo Two Sox came along in '93, compliments of a neighbor's wayward, slightly insane stallion. Trail riding and horsecamping. Illness and accidents.

Happy Trails!

Weekend

Had a really nice weekend even though T had to work. There was a 3 day webcast from Ft Worth with Pat and Linda. I was able to watch it even with our ancient computer! What fun. Found out the babies are super learners around 18 to 24 months. I hope to work with all of them more this summer.

At the dr this month finally checked my thryroid (ask him to several years back- thought he had)anyway, numbers were off and now taking a med for that too! With the help from the almighty it will get rid of this damn stuff on my hands and even my fatigue! Maybe it's not the other meds but just the thyroid trouble. Keep fingers and toes crossed.

Lee called early for mother's day. I'm so glad was so relieved...too much drama as he says. Nevermind...

Beautiful weather this weekend too. Monday has started out really nice too. In the 60's up to 80 something. Maybe hot later but who cares? Dez had her first ride on the bike for work yesterday. Gpa didn't scare her at all (knew he wouldn't)she liked it. She's off to Monett to get her car going. Be back Tues night or ....maybe Wed a.m.....

Spring really here?

It's trying.

Was beautiful yesterday and we took several hours to go riding. Had lunch in Galena and motored on up to Billings - made a run through the flea mkt, on to Monett city park for a rest on the bench by the lake and back home again. Was a really good day. Nope , no pictures. Just a really relaxing day.

Things are mediocre in my mind haha. Life is good.

Try this again

I think I may try this blog thing again. For myself of course. We'll see out it works out.

Our grandaughter is living with us again. Has been for awhile. Late Jan. maybe. Maybe she'll get on her feet this time on a little more solid ground.

It's almost spring and I can hardly wait!
