First day

First day

About us

It is now my husband and I after many years of taking care of our family. Beginning with a wonderful son until he left home to become a Marine and as recently as taking care of my mother until her passing and all the life and love in between. We've been happily married since 1982 and I can hardly wait to see what the next 26 years brings. It's been a great ride!

Day three

of our 4 day vacation. Yesterday we got our round pen put back together from being feeding stalls. This morning we put the final touches to the west yard fence. I use the term "we" lightly as all I did was sit in a chair and visit with Tim. Tim was able to get most of the brushhoggin' done before the alternator/generator gave out on the tractor. It's already repaired and he has gone to town to pick it up.

This is from last year since I didn't take pics this time around.

It sure helps keep the dang weeds from taking over the pasture. A few more years and we may have it licked. lol

In the next day or two I'll post a couple of pix of the horses helping T with the fence. You know that bucket of fence supplies sure sounds like feed? They sure think so.

I may finally be "over" the dang stuff on my hands. Almost, which means I could wake tomorrow with both hands covered. Sure hope this thyroid-thing recovers quickly - whatever  it does. lol It might be what's causing it. I was inclined to think it was 2 different meds that I take that can cause rashes. Don't know why whatever it is affects my hands and nothing else.

Throwaway Thursday

I'm still trying to do the throwaway thing. Doing quite nicely I might add.
This week it was some linens that had been stored way too long and in a chest that got ruined by weather the past couple of years. Didn't mean for that to happen but it did. Now the chest is gone too. Had it 40yrs plus-was my "hope chest" as they used to call them and it served it's purpose quite well all these years. I've been living my dream for many many years now.

May find some more things to get rid of today too. Hope so!

Buck's first month here-27yrs old

Our mustang-15yrs old

Dick as a baby -now 2

Elvira as a baby - now 2

Spike- mustang- 10yrs old

Some of our babies. Pasture pets. Big kids. Whatever you like to call them they have given me so much pleasure all these years. A good place to be for them. As T says once you're here you've a home for life.
You can really tell the mustangs differences : Cotton was from the Calico Mts in New Mexico and not sure where Spike's line is from but has some "draft" in it. Spike was born in captivity in Ar out of two fine looking parents. We got him at about 5-6 months.

Got my mile in for the day. Feels good.

History

I've had this blog over a year. I deleted all but what you see on here now.

This is my apple pie from last week. It was yummy if I do say so myself. Below that is breakfast rolls from April. They are always good if you have a mega sweet tooth. Really they are tasty.

Have also had a peach cobbler this year and a chocolate cake. Not much else in the way of desserts that I can think of. I try not to keep many snacks and sweets around but some times I slip. We keep vanilla ice cream around on occassion. Haven't for awhile. I think next on the list will be Pineapple Upside down cake. I wished I'd stopped up the road yesterday for some of their strawberries. Then it would be Strawberry Shortcake instead.

Having trouble getting motivated to do my mile today so I'd better go do that right now! Later

Beautiful day in the Ozarks

Another beautiful day starting. Hope it's like this all day. Just got off the treadmill and having another cup.

Got a list of chores to do and errands (hate them the most). Feed store and bread and milk. Too bad the feed store doesn't carry bread and milk!

This morning may be the last cool morning

for at least a week. Yay! Had a good day yesterday. Got my housework done early and loafed. Oh, forgot to mention that the power was out from 6:30-9:30a.m. . No big deal. Just went back to bed and read by window light until it came back on.

Forgot to put T's phone in his lunchbox this morning. Dang it! I've got errands to run today. Grocery store and feed store. And drop by the vet's office and pick up some flea stuff for the hounds.

Played with the horses yesterday too. More than I normally do anyway. Molly has been feeling a little better. Betty's leg is better. Put a halter on El too. Led her around a bit etc. . she took it real well. Dick hadn't forgot anything either. That's the first time in halter for El. She's so much like Moll.

Time to do the treadmill. BRB

Didn't get the treadmill done. Instead I trimmed the shrubs etc in the front yard. Mums, took out several misplaced volunteer walnut trees etc.....then the storm came. haha

OMGoodness!

We had severe storms last night for hours. Tim had just enough time to drive the hr drive from work to home in between them. He actually had a thirty something guy stop him on the drive and advise him of the coming large storm! In all these years we've never had something like that happen. Unbelieveably he took the dang thing to work again today. The storms will continue today.

Tim occassionally takes eggs to work to give away or sell. A few weeks ago he sold some to a guy he barely knows. About a week ago the guy asks about the blood specks in them. So concerned he looked it up online to see what was wrong. Soo......while returning the cartons yesterday the guy (deadly serious)asks Tim if we have any virgin chickens! Oh, how funny! Tim said no we always keep a rooster and it's just natural. Never had that happen before either! Too funny!

I put a halter on Betty Boop yesterday thinking I would give her a little hydrotherapy on the leg. I then realized I needed to come in the house to get my phone. Since we have no hitching post I let her, told her I'd be right back. Of course she was back out in the pasture happily eating away! I'll try today or wait until Tim comes home tonight and we'll do it together. He's working OT today.

Joplin tornado

Well, the sunny Sunday turned into a bad night. Sunday evening a tornado hit Joplin and destroyed about a third of the town. On the ground- up to 3/4 mile wide and 6 miles long. It's just awful. We had storms here too but not bad at all.

That's all I can say. Been a stressful few days for lots of people.

Meanwhile, Molly seems to be a little better and haven't had a chance to check Betty but she's limping less.
