First day

First day

About us

It is now my husband and I after many years of taking care of our family. Beginning with a wonderful son until he left home to become a Marine and as recently as taking care of my mother until her passing and all the life and love in between. We've been happily married since 1982 and I can hardly wait to see what the next 26 years brings. It's been a great ride!

Something different

I decided to throw in some old posts that I had posted in the past and deleted. Checking back I started this in May '09 - deleted all of it late '10. With that said:

Our first home. We hauled it from Forsyth on the lake to twenty acres on Gramma's farm in Willard. We lived in it 2.5 years. Tired of close quarters and hauling water for us, pets and horses we bought our house in Willard.

This is our place now. Minus the green Dodge and the green VW bus. Add a couple more horses lol. Needless to say we are horse poor. We do love it here though. Close to the hwy for Tim's commute yet still fairly private. Do have more traffic than I expected but I can live with that even though we're right on the road.

The first pony ride that I remember. I'm hanging on to Allen's hair with Cousin Billy at the reins. Boy ,wasn't I something?! I love this picture. I sure did envy them. I mean, gosh they had a pony!

Here's our first and only pony we had as kids. Patty. Mom told me she was an old circus pony or some story like that. Only tricks I remember were dragging you off with a tree limb or sitting down with you. lol I loved her anyway.

Either the sun was in my eyes or it was my InjunJo impression. That was one of my nicknames as a little kid. The other one being "Needles". Not sure where that one came from but Aunt Mary never let me live it down.
The first picture was taken at Uncle Paul's house in Oregon and the second taken at Mom and Pop's place "in the country". Mom and Pop being our Sprinkle grandparents. (Some people that may be reading may not know that.)While growing up I tried to talk Mom and Pop into letting me get another horse but Mom said one would run the beef off the cows. Seemed to me on 80 acres there would be enough room for both.

Took me an hour to piddle in the yard with feeding everyone, brushing and spraying a few of the horses for flies, watering plants blah blah blah so I'd better post this and get to my house work.

Another Monday

Had a really nice Sunday. Slept in until 5:30. Went to Israel and Brenda's to watch the race and have lunch. Nothing fancy but really good. Beans, corn bread, fried taters and if that wasn't enough you could have a hot dog. lol Was fun watching the kids play. Aiden and Israel had gone fishing that morning. Aiden caught a little perch. Wish I could have seen that. He's such a cute little guy. Not that Dahlia isn't either. She's a card and so much like her momma and her gramma. Temper, temper. Their's, not mine.
Isn't this a pretty flower? Didn't expect it to ever bloom again. Sorry if I have already posted it. It's hard to keep track sometimes. NO, it's not my age! This brain carries around a lot of important information....

I've got to go check and read a couple of my last posts. See ya later today.

Typical Tuesday

Working on a beautiful day in the Ozarks! About 70* and the sun is coming up. Will be hot and muggy shortly but what else is new. There was another earthquake in Mo this a.m. about 3:00. 4.2 . SSE of Sullivan. The size of the recent quakes has lessened but the numbers are still up. They stopped the drilling in Ar that they thought might be causing the "swarms" but as I said the numbers are still up.

Got my outside stuff done early along with feeding. Now to gather some eggs and take another head count and check water levels.

Monday, Monday

T has gone to town to see about front tires for his pickup. Greg seems to think one of them is square. lol

Oh, oh. I found a new flower in my yard a couple of days ago! Never has grown here before and where it is, it has had plenty of chances. Right next to the old well house that used to decorate the yard.
You can see the "stickers" on it's stem.

And here's it's leaves and pod. Best I can tell it's a variety of "prickly poppy". It's color is more of a salmon color instead of pink. I have orange Cal. poppies in front. These prickly poppies are a wild flower that grow every where except the PNW from info I found online. Pretty cool!

And here's a picture of my Amaryllis that Linda gave me a couple of seasons ago. Last year it did not bloom but look!
Isn't it nice?

Made it back from my AAA call to town. 88* and almost noon.

Not sure

how this "pages" thing works on here so will play with it a few days and decide what to do. May not be worth it. lol I can't figure out why it's got 2 links of the "about us" part. I can't seem to get rid of one in the editing section. Maybe I'll find it later. I assume that I really don't need separate pages as I'm not really posting that much - just wanted to play with it.
Back to the "pages" the question is do you have to post to them separately? I think so.
I've sent S an invitation to read along but she either hasn't actually received them or doesn't recognize them.

On to other things. Here's the basket lid I made for Marge's laundry basket. I sure hope she likes it. If she ever gets it that is. They have already gone to Mi for the summer and won't be back until fall.

Here's a picture of one of the unfinished baskets.

And here we have a few of the tree ornaments that I have made for the stockings. Have several more to make this summer. Easy, peasey.

Dez got to spend some time with her kids this week while she was on vacation.
ILS wants to get together on T's next weekend off and watch a race and bbq. We're excited about that.
Oh! Another wonderful thing! Athena and Brandon are having another baby! What a blessing. I guess I'd better get really busy with the quilts I'd like to make for the great nieces and nephews. Riiiigghhhttt. Like that will happen. lol

My kidlet  brought the trailer he borrowed back this afternoon. It's always nice to see him.

Throwaway Thursday

Well, didn't get to throw anything away today- will have to be tomorrow. We drove to Spfd this a.m. to pick up T's truck. Steve wasn't quite done with it. T stayed there and the dogs and I headed home.

She's home again. Don't panic.....this is the pic from the day we brought her home. Not a picture from today while it's 90* and T has a coat and cap on. lol

It's actually been a beautiful day. They just said on the news that about 50,000 people have volunteered for the clean up. It will take months. They've raised over $70,000 in Spfd at BPro. and the day is young.

All the horses were trying to stay in the barn awhile ago. The bugs are out in the heat. It's still too damp in there but I'm afraid to turn the fan on for fear Betty or Buck may get into trouble. Mostly Betty Boop. She's young enough to be very snoopy. Dang them all anyway. T left the pickup in the pasture the other night and of course one of the little brats scratched on my mirror until it fell off! It actually broke off at the brace. I'm guessing Betty.

I finally got around to editing a few of my pictures. I took one of my most recent baskets back in Jan..

That's an 18" doll in the basket. It was mine when I was a little girl. One of things I need to throw away yet have not. Anyway, there's the baskets. All sizes and shapes. I'd like to take the time to weave a few more but can't seem to be able to make that happen.

Some days are diamonds, some days are stone.

Day three

of our 4 day vacation. Yesterday we got our round pen put back together from being feeding stalls. This morning we put the final touches to the west yard fence. I use the term "we" lightly as all I did was sit in a chair and visit with Tim. Tim was able to get most of the brushhoggin' done before the alternator/generator gave out on the tractor. It's already repaired and he has gone to town to pick it up.

This is from last year since I didn't take pics this time around.

It sure helps keep the dang weeds from taking over the pasture. A few more years and we may have it licked. lol

In the next day or two I'll post a couple of pix of the horses helping T with the fence. You know that bucket of fence supplies sure sounds like feed? They sure think so.

I may finally be "over" the dang stuff on my hands. Almost, which means I could wake tomorrow with both hands covered. Sure hope this thyroid-thing recovers quickly - whatever  it does. lol It might be what's causing it. I was inclined to think it was 2 different meds that I take that can cause rashes. Don't know why whatever it is affects my hands and nothing else.
